In an effort educate the masses to the many uses of hemp, Submedia and Shut Eye Records have teamed up to bring us Hempcyclopedia, a multimedia disc that provides information in support of hemp legalization along with music performed by various southern artists. The brainchild of Atlanta filmmaker Franklin Lopez, the CD attempts to inform listeners about the basic uses of hemp, the costs of America's war on drugs, and the sticky political issues surrounding hemp legalization. Hemp-cyclopedia provides quite varied information, including a history of hemp production by our Founding Fathers and a discussion of the 50,000 or so commercial uses of hemp in other parts of the world. After dropping the knowledge in the data portion of the disc, Hempcyclopedia rocks it out with energetic music tracks from a variety of Georgia-based bands. The tunes are not about smoking pot, but are about adding spirited sounds to a multimedia project that is pushing an important cause. Hemp production can be a giant step forward for the US if more Americans open their minds to its benefits. Anything made from paper, cotton, and fossil fuels could be made from hemp thus positively impacting industrial production and preserving scarce natural resources. The folks at Submedia and Shut Eye Records hope to spread this message through grassroots education with Hempcyclopedia. For more information on this CD, visit http://www.hempcyclopedia.com or write Submedia at P.O. Box 5771, Atlanta, GA, 31107. |
