radiant with qualities like motherly affection    the divine one    I bow    to the mother of the universe

By the well-born, fragrant flowers offered up to the anklets

the two feet that make the fragrance more fragrant    which are placed perfectly together
saumyau                sadA-anubhavanE-api             nava-anubhAvyau
the two gentle feet    even when always experienced    are ever new to experience

Verse 4
sadya-vikAsi-samuditvara-sAndra-rAga
of a freshly blossomed, intensely colored
saurabhya-nirbhara-sarOruha-sAmya-vArtAm
and fragrant lotus, the very talk of comparison
samyakshu     sAhasa-padEshu         vilEkhayantau
completely    in acts of audacity    the two feet that write off (surpass)

rEkhA-maya-dhvaja-sudhA-kalaSa-Atapatra
With lines forming a flag, a pot of nectar, an umbrella
vajra-ankuSa-amburuha-kalpaka-Sankha-cakraih
a vajra, a goad, a lotus, a wish-fulfilling tree, a conch and a discus
bhavyaih                 alankRta-talau                     para-tattva-cihnaih
with these auspicious    the two soles which are adorned    with signs of the Supreme Reality

tAmra-udara-dyuti-parAjita-padmarAgau
The two feet whose reddish inner glow defeats the ruby
bAhyaih             mahObhih    abhibhUta-mahEndra-nIlau
with their outer    radiance    overpower the great Indraneela sapphire
udyan-nakha-amSubhih                 udasta-SaSAnka-bhAsau
by the rays of their rising nails    outshine the luster of the moon

sa-prEma-bhIti-kamalA-kara-pallavAbhyAm
By the sprout-like hands of Kamala, with love and fear
samvAhanE-api        sapadi       klamam     AdadhAnau
even in massaging    instantly    fatigue    the two feet that show
kAntA-avAng-manasa-gOcara-saukumAryau
Whose tenderness is beyond the speech and mind of His beloved
SrI-vEnkaTESa       caraNau            SaraNam    prapadyE
of Sri Venkatesa    to the two feet    refuge     I take

lakshmI-mahI-tadanurUpa-nijAnubhAva
Of Lakshmi, Bhudevi, and those with befitting glory of their own
nILA-Adi-divya-mahishI-kara-pallavAnAm
from the sprout-like hands of Nila and other divine consorts
AruNya-sankramaNatah                kila      sAndra-rAgau
from the transfer of the redness    indeed    the two feet that are intensely red

nitya-Anamat-vidhi-Siva-Adi-kirITa-kOTi
From the crores of crowns of the eternally bowing Brahma, Shiva and others
pratyupta-dIpta-nava-ratna-mahah-prarOhaih
with the brilliant rays sprouting from the nine gems embedded in them
nIrAjana-vidhim              udAram       upAdadhAnau
the rite of waving lights    the noble    the two feet which perform

of Sri Venkatesa    to the two feet    refuge     I take

vishNoh      padE            paramE     iti     udita-praSamsau
Of Vishnu    in the abode    supreme    thus    the two feet that are praised
yau          madhvah     utsah       iti     bhOgyatayA-api                 upAttau
which two    of honey    fountain    thus    also for their enjoyability    are regarded
bhUyah     tathA-iti    tava       pANi-tala-pradishTau
further    as such      by Your    are pointed out by the palm of Your hand

pArthAya              tat-sadRSa-sArathinA              tvayA-eva
To Partha (Arjuna)    by the incomparable charioteer    by You Yourself

which two    were shown    Your own feet    refuge     with the words 'take refuge'
bhUyah-api    mahyam-iha     tau          kara-darSitau             tE

mat-mUrdhni    kAliya-phaNE             vikaTa-aTavIshu
On my head     on the hood of Kaliya    in the dense forests

on the peak of Sri Venkatadri    on the head    of the Vedas
cittE-api           ananya-manasAm          samam      Ahitau        tE
and in the minds    of the single-minded    equally    are placed    Your
SrI-vEnkaTESa       caraNau            SaraNam    prapadyE
of Sri Venkatesa    to the two feet    refuge     I take

amlAna-hRshyat-avanItala-kIrNa-pushpau
The two feet strewn with unfading, joyous flowers from the earth
SrI-vEnkaTAdri-Sikhara-AbharaNAyamAnau
acting as an ornament for the peak of Sri Venkatadri
Anandita-akhila-mana-nayanau               tava    etau
which delight the minds and eyes of all    Your    these two

prAyah       prapanna-janatA              prathama-avagAhyau
Generally    by the surrendered people    the first to be grasped
mAtuh          stanau-iva              SiSoh          amRtAyamAnau
of a mother    like the two breasts    for a child    acting as nectar
prAptau            paraspara-tulAm               atula-antarau                  tE
having obtained    comparison with each other    but internally incomparable    Your
SrI-vEnkaTESa       caraNau            SaraNam    prapadyE
of Sri Venkatesa    to the two feet    refuge     I take

by those of pure Sattva quality    by the one whose lotus feet are constantly served
