Chapel Hill Nov.3–For the Chapel Hill Tigers’ field hockey team, it was an unforgettable season that ended with a 2-0 victory over the Asheville Cougars to take the state public high school field hockey championship. The game was played at Wake Forest University Kentner Stadium.
The game was fast paced and both teams were well prepared having faced each other early in this year’s season.
Senior, Taylor Wahrenbrok scored the first goal early in the first half off an assist from junior, Barbara Parks. Sophomore, Alexis Hebert scored the second goal midway through the second half with an assist by Taylor Wahrenbrock.
The Tiger team capitalized on 9 corners while Asheville had 3. Goalkeeper Alyssa Stefanadis had one save in the final minute of the game.
Tigers Coach Diego Cabellero and Assistant Coach Marie Bounds savored the victory after the intense and hard-fought playoff series.
