Conflict in Africa Conference Our purpose is to gather a distinguished group of scholars from the United States and overseas to investigate the roots of internal and inter-state group violence, describe its recent history, and explore a variety of ideas for ameliorating or avoiding such conflict in the near and long term future. Our goal is not only to understand the violence, but to offer some suggestions and recommendations that might prove useful to people on the continent, and to the international community, in forging a more peaceful future.
Celebrating and Affirming Diversity in our Schools Conference To build a solid foundation for the appreciation of the diverse cultures represented in our public schools and our community by ensuring that these cultures appropriately influence learning, instruction and inquiry.
Southern History and Culture Exploration Program To deepen international students' and visiting foreign scholars understanding of and participation in the life of the region, SHCEP proposes to provide lectures, interactions with various populations and tours. The program will help participants look behind simplistic stereotypes of the South, to consider the region's complex cultures, development, and human relations.
TeachAsia Program Our objectives for the implementation of the Teach Asia project are to increase awareness of Asian studies, enhance our teaching of the seventh grade curriculum and strengthen our community relationships. Our content will focus on three main themes: Diversity, Connections and Change.
K-12 International Outreach Program 1999-- Thanks to the foresight of the NC State Legislature, this successful program provides international expertise, free of charge, to over 200 North Carolina Schools annually.
