To make the scene believable, we need to bring in some spaghetti and some sauce to give the patrons something to eat. I still really need to meet with them to make sure they are down with the use and the gunplay. We're going to have to talk to the cops and put blankets up so people can't see into the restaurant.

Along those same lines, we need to find a new alley. The one we have has no outlets and is too public for the gunplay and the blood. Don't want to get shot...well not so much me, but we don't want our actors getting shot. Need to get all the cast to sign liability forms. Can't afford to be sued. Need to buy some tapes for the camera. Need to learn how to use the damn thing. That's the hard part about using borrowed equipment, you always get a hold of it at the last second. It would be nice to practice with it.

Even though we haven't strived for a crew, one is coming together with little work. It is about time something came easy. Nathan Logan is down with lighting. He is energetic and innovative - exactly what we need. The guy that's playing the Street Musician is along for the ride as a general PA, and the Dassani's are down too. I'm betting that we'll have various others who come to a shoot here and there.

Looking back at the whole preproduction process, I'm glad I've been working here at the YMCA. The advantages are huge, weighing against the low pay. First and foremost, the free copies have saved a lot of dough.

Between the casting signs, crew position signs...
